June 13, Minsk / Corr. BELTA/. The coaching staff of the women's national basketball team of Belarus has named the squad for the European Championship, which will be held in the Czech Republic on June 16-25, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Basketball Federation.

Today, in the sports complex Tsmoki-Minsk, Natalia Trofimova's wards had a final training session before leaving for the continental forum. The coaching staff chose the following players:

defenders: Olga Zyuzkova, Alex Bentley, Alena Golubeva, Yulia Rytikova;

forwards: Tatyana Likhtarovich, Ekaterina Snytina, Maria Popova, Maria Filonchik, Yanina Inkina;

centers: Victoria Gasper, Marina Kress, Marina Ivashchenko.

Belarusian basketball players at the preliminary stage will perform at EuroBasket 2017 in group B. The matches will be held in Hradec-Králové. The tournament for Natalia Trofimova's wards starts on June 16 with the Italian team (14.30). The next day, June 17, there will be a meeting with Slovakia (14.30), and the group stage will end on June 19 with a game with the Turkish team (17.00).

The winner of the quartet will get a ticket to the 1/4 finals. The teams that will take second and third places will play playoff matches with squads from group A (Ukraine, Czech Republic, Hungary, Spain).

Earlier, the women's basketball team of Belarus took part in the final stage of the European Championship five times and achieved the highest result in 2007 – third place.-0-
