Mexican politician Roberto Madrazo, who ran for president in 2006, has been stripped of his title as winner of the annual Berlin Marathon. On September 30, Madrazo won the under-55 race, but a few days later it was revealed that he had cut the distance considerably, according to the Associated Press.

The organizers of the marathon analyzed the information from the Mexican microchip, and it turned out that he covered the 15-kilometer distance in 21 minutes. The world record in the 15 km race is 41 minutes and 29 seconds and belongs to the Kenyan Felix Limo.

Madrazo's total time for the Berlin Marathon (42 kilometers and 195 meters) was 2 hours, 41 minutes and 12 seconds. It should be noted that in June the politician took part in the marathon in San Diego (USA) and showed the time of 3 hours, 44 minutes and 6 seconds. Then the Mexican was not seen in any violations.

In Mexico, the Madrazo incident has already become a popular joke. In particular, the politician was recalled that in his election campaign in 2006, he exceeded the maximum budget limited by law by tens of millions of dollars. The Mexican himself explained this by the fact that the money included in the campaign budget was taken from him by robbers, and he was forced to spend additional funds.

During the 2006 election race, the politician's opponents used the slogan Do you believe Madrazo? I don't either!
