Winter Sports Day was held in Salekhard. This holiday was established not so long ago and began to be celebrated in 2015. The idea of establishing this holiday and the decision to celebrate it annually was announced by Alexander Zhukov, who then held the post of president of the Russian Olympic Committee. There are a large number of winter sports and outdoor activities that are very popular both in Russia and in our Arctic region. In addition, Russian athletes have been demonstrating their skills at competitions of various levels for many decades, winning medals and setting world records.

So today in Salekhard on the territory of Gorka-Park a holiday of sports and good mood took place. Residents and guests of the capital could ride tubing for free, try snowboarding, national sports and skiing.

Employees of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the YaNAO did not stand aside. It was decided to organize a field demonstration of equipment and equipment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The goal is to popularize the profession of a firefighter and patriotic education of the younger generation.

The rescuers told the guests of the holiday about the tasks performed, showed the combat vehicle and rescue equipment, explaining in what cases it is used. During the show, those who wished had the opportunity to inspect the device of a fire truck, hold a hydraulic rescue tool in their hands, put on a breathing apparatus, which firefighters use to protect their respiratory organs and eyes while working in an unbreathable environment when extinguishing fires.

The firefighters also had to answer a lot of questions: “Is it scary to go to a fire?”, “How long does it take a firefighter to put on combat clothes and go to a fire?”, “And how much do you need to study to become a real firefighter?” – such questions sounded from small inhabitants of the district capital.

The holiday was not only fun, but also beneficial, because it is very important for firefighters to instill in the younger generation the skills to comply with fire safety rules, and thereby prevent fires.
