September 23, Minsk / Corr. BELTA/. A freshman of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics of BSU Evgeny Stefankov won the VK Cup championship in the Mobile nomination. This was reported to BelTA in the press service of the university.

The student has developed an application for listening to podcasts on the VKontakte social network, where users can leave quick reactions in the form of emoticons or a small text note, and the creators of the audio file can monitor the statistics of listeners' reactions, the press service said.

The VK Cup was held in four categories: Mobile (mobile development), Engine (sports programming), Design (interface design) and ML (machine learning). More than 1,000 Russian-speaking IT professionals aged 16 to 42 took part in it, and only 128 of them made it to the final. There were seven prizes in each of the directions. By the way, 17-year-old Evgeniy Stefankov became the youngest winner of the competition, outstripping experienced specialists in the intellectual race.

During the competition program, the participants were asked to solve the tasks of expanding the functions of VKontakte in the future. So, in the qualifying round, the contestants in the Mobile nomination completed tasks to create an application for processing voice messages with the effects of off-screen laughter, designed a taxi call interface, and determined the age of users by their behavior. In the final duel, the participants spent a week developing an application for listening to podcasts. The winners were determined by IT-specialists through testing the performance of submitted projects.

The championship of the best developers and designers VK Cup has been held annually since 2012 by the team of the social network VKontakte. The competition brings together the best IT specialists to expand and develop new social network functionality, study current trends in the IT market, create conditions for the development of young developers and their employment opportunities in an IT company. Its participants are Russian-speaking programmers-athletes, interface designers, machine learning specialists and mobile developers aged 16 and over.-0-
